Thuya is a native Moroccan wood famed for its distinctively marked root wood and strong, pleasant fragrance. All our Thuya wood products are handcrafted in Morocco and more specifically in and around the areas of Essouira and Agadir in the south of Morocco. The Thuya wood is primarily from the roots. Its very hard wood and difficult to work with. Though the external surfaces are buffed to an impressive smooth high gloss, there are some naturally occurring knotholes, nicks and some other imperfections in the wood which become a part of each box’s character, Thuya is a variety of fast growing conifer farmed under strict government licence in friendliness to the environment.
